The 1,985-HP Aspark Owl Is Coming To America

It's the quickest accelerating car in the world.

It's been approximately three years since the Aspark Owl was revealed, but there are still very few people who are even aware of its existence. Those who do know about it likely remember its trump card: the ability to accelerate from 0-60 mph in under two seconds. It's an electric supercar from Japan, and it generates an astonishing 1,985 horsepower. Not only is it ridiculously quick, but unlike so many other obscure supercar offerings out there, it looks beautifully designed. Part of that stunning aesthetic is due to its height since it's the lowest road-legal electric hypercar with a height of just 38.9 inches. And now you may be able to see one in the metal, as it's coming to the US.So just how quick is it? Back in the summer, the Japanese hypercar set a claimed 0-60 mph time of 1.72 seconds while it was testing at the Misano circuit in Italy. Most impressive is that the time was achieved on street-legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, beating its previous achievement of 1.87 seconds on race tires. This is possible thanks to a rating of 1,475 lb-ft of torque, distributed via four electric motors. Aspark also claims that the motor's rotation speed of 15,000 rpm should be the fastest in the world. Interestingly, all of this has been achieved by an engineering company that decided to make a hypercar as a side project. So how can you get your hands on one? If you're in Japan, the company's hometown of Osaka is where the first dealership has opened this week, but orders are open for Europe and North America too. The Gables Sports Cars will be handling domestic sales from Miami, Florida, but you still have to fill out an application on Aspark's website. Act quickly though - just 50 are being made, and 20 are reserved for Europe with another 20 meant for Asia. Just 10 are thus remaining for America at an approximate cost of $3.56 million. If that's too much ching for you, the upcoming Tesla Roadster is promising even quicker acceleration times.

Would You Be Happy If The 2022 BMW X8 M Looked Like This?

Earlier this year, we found out that the upcoming BMW X8 M won't just be the Bavarian marque's most powerful SUV, but its most powerful M car. Powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain - the first for a full-fat M car - the hyper SUV is expected to produce up to 750 horsepower. That's a lot more than the 617 horses generated by the 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine in the likes of the M5 Competition, BMW's most powerful current engine. But what will the X8 M look like? Like you, we're almost afraid of the answer to that question based on some of BMW's latest designs, but superrenderscars on Instagram has given us an idea of what to anticipate.

Ferrari's SUV Plans Are Bigger Than Anyone Imagined

This is going to be a wild ride. When the Ferrari Purosangue SUV debuts in about one year from now, it will forever alter the course of the Italian automaker. Not only will it be the marque's first-ever SUV, but it'll also serve as the basis for a whole family of SUVs. According to Car Magazine, a pair of all-electric spin-off models currently codenamed F244 and F245 will launch in 2024 and 2026, respectively. Specific details about either vehicle remain unknown at this time as they remain in relatively early development stages. While the Purosangue will retain a combustion engine, specifically an 800-horsepower V12 and, later, a hybridized V8, these new SUVs will be purely battery-electric though they'll share an architecture with the Purosangue.Apparently, this scalable front-engined platform is already EV-ready, boasting a flat skateboard floor ideally suited for a large lithi...
